WHY THE ENGINE MATTERS
Metadata is separate from hidden workbook content
An XLSX workbook is an OOXML ZIP package. The cleaner updates known property and attribution parts while copying formulas, shared strings, styles, charts and worksheet XML through the rebuilt archive.
Hidden sheets and rows may contain private information, but they are workbook content rather than metadata. The interface calls out that boundary instead of implying they were removed.

Are my files uploaded?
No. The cleaner runs in your browser, has no upload endpoint, and only enables the file picker after its processor assets are available locally.
Is the original file changed?
No. KillMetadata reads the original and creates a separately named cleaned copy. It never overwrites the source file.
Does this remove hidden worksheets?
No. Hidden sheets are document content. Inspect and remove them in Excel if they should not be shared.
Are formulas changed?
Supported workbook entries containing cells and formulas are passed through. Always open the saved copy and confirm calculation behavior before distribution.
